Here is what Jim has to say about A D H and his new RCI drums...

"I had decided to get back into drumming after selling my old Ludwigs about 25 years ago. What I remember about my old Ludwigs is that they were really "ringy". They had something called vibra-fibing, which meant the inner shell had been speckled with pieces of fiberglass, one supposes to improve resonance. I just recall I didn't care for the sound that much and decided that my next drums would be a nice "wood only" set.

Fast forward to 2008. Things have changed quite a bit since I sold the old set; there are lots of choices in shell materials and sizes. Still, looking around at the off the shelf wood sets, the colors, sizes and configurations were limited-I couldn't quite find the setup I was looking for, so I started checking out custom kits. Surveying the various manufacturers and retailers of custom kits, the name RCI popped up several times.

I did an Internet search on acrylic drums in general and found Acrylic Drums Heaven. The site is artful and a lighthearted in it's approach with it's 'heaven' theme, yet informative and answered most of the questions I had about going acrylic - how do the drums sound? Do they crack easily? Do the seams come apart? Etc.Best of all, you get to see the beauty of acrylic drums and the almost endless color combinations that can be put together. I figured if I liked looking at the drums so much, so would an audience. At that point I was pretty much sold on RCI acrylic drums.

I emailed Dave at ADH and I must say, he was great to deal with. Again, he answered all my questions about the drums and the purchase. placed my order and in just over a month!!!, the drums arrived on the exact day I had been told.

They were packed extremely well and there was no damage whatsoever. They sound great-the tone and projection of the toms are fantastic and the snare is perfect. The bass drum is a cannon! The workmanship is top notch-even my percussion instructor was impressed. Regarding the appearance of the drums, I hope the photos speak for themselves.
