Here is what Ronnie has to say about A D H and his new RCI drums...

"...I have been playing drums for over 30 yrs (parents got me started when I was just 3 or 4) and have played many different kits. Big kits, small kits, old kits, new kits, birch kits, maple kits etc. In all those years, I have never ordered and purchased a custom kit. In all honesty, acrylic drums were not foremost in my mind. I have always loved the look of acrylic drums, but just wasn’t sure that the sound would be for me.

As anyone else who has really delved into it knows, deciding what to get can be an extremely daunting task when there are so many manufacturers, big and small, making some incredible stuff nowadays.  As far as big names go, I honestly had zero interest in anything out there other than DW. Without naming all the names, there are a plethora of small companies out there that I considered.  Spaun, C&C, GMS, Phattie, MD Drum- to name just a handfull.

Then, several things happened. I noticed acrylics starting to pop up more and more. I had seen Tommy Lee on the Supernova tour and, after doing some research, found out that his current kit is all RCI shells with DW hardware. I began to delve further into the world of acrylics, and literally stumbled upon the Acrylic Drums Heaven website.

I originally contacted Dave @ ADH via email to ask a few questions and obtain an estimate for the exact kit I wanted to order. First off, Dave wasted no time in responding to my initial questions, and quickly followed up with the estimate I requested. This spawned several weeks of back and forth between us regarding the finer points of the estimate. After my asking a gazillion questions and me flip-flopping on a few issues, we finally struck a deal.  It must be said that through all of this, Dave was very patient, quick to respond, and ultra helpful. A top notch professional all the way.

So began the painstaking wait. Dave was great about keeping me up to date on the status of the build and passing along shipping info once they left the RCI factory"

Everything was packed extremely well, and there was not the slightest bit of damage to anything.  I expected them to look amazing, but with acrylic drums (any drums really, but I believe even more so with acrylics), you just can’t get the full effect and beauty of them through pictures. To see them up close gives a completely different perspective.

Amazing only begins to describe how they sound. Tune these babies well, find their 'sweet-spot', and they will give you one of the most pleasing drumming experiences of your life. The octabons pop, the toms punch, the snare cracks, and the kick- well, it kicks! Together, they explode. But what a sweet sounding explosion it is.

Kudos to Romano Cotone and his company for designing and manufacturing some truly incredible looking and sounding acrylic drums.

And a huge thanks to Dave @ Acrylic Drums Heaven for making the ordering and purchasing experience a pleasant one..."
